Land Rover Discovery Vs Lincoln Navigator Review
If you're in the market for a luxury SUV you've likely noticed by now that there's no shortage of options, especially in the last 5 years. Nearly every company that builds SUV's has an entrant in the luxury market, eagerly trying to capture the attention of luxury car buyers who might be looking for something a little more rugged. When it comes to full size luxury SUV's two particular models come to mind; the Land Rover Discovery and the Lincoln Navigator. Currently in the U.S. Land Rover sales have yet to hit large numbers, so the Navigator is much more common, but of course in the UK, Land Rovers are the standard in luxury SUV's.
The Lincoln Navigator is of course, Ford's version of a luxury SUV. With years of experience behind it in building the successful Ford Explorer, Ford put it's stamp on a luxury SUV in the Lincoln family. Totally re-engineered in 2003, the Lincoln Navigator is a big, smooth SUV with all the luxury that other Lincoln models are known for. A nice sound system, electronic stability control system, fully independent suspension that includes a load-leveling feature are all standard equipment. With a 5.4 Litre V8 engine that produces 300 hp, it has all the power you will ever need for highway driving. Unfortunately it stops there; You're not likely going to be taking this bulky SUV off the road at all. It may help in wet and slippery conditions, but beyond that, if you want to hit the trails, this won't be the vehicle for you. However if you want to tow the boat or trailer, the Navigator has plenty of power for this endeavour.
The Land Rover Discovery has the refinements that you would expect from Land Rover, as well as the shear ruggedness that these vehicles are also known for. With a classic design, the Land Rover Discovery is at home on the highway with its 4.6 liter V-8 that produces plenty of power for weaving in and out of traffic at high speeds. Turn down the wrong road and find yourself in the mud and this is where the Land Rover Discovery really shines. With high ground clearance, the Landrover Discovery can tackle rough terrain and with plenty of height inside as well, it can easily handle enough luggage for a vacation for a family of 4 or 5. Overall, if you want versatility, luxury and ruggedness, the Land Rover Discovery is a great decision.
